Fabric Tues

So for  Father's Day I worked on a Father's Day apron at my local sewing machine shop that also hold classes.  At first I was not to enthused about making an apron. Then I thought about that my husband has wanted a grill for a long time now. So an apron was made to go along with his new grill.

I did finish it, but it is in need f a cleaning from all the grilling on Sunday.  I saw someone that I knew in the store that day and she said that I was wrong for allowing him to grill himself on Fathers Day. I said I couldn't deprive him of playing with his new toy, right!  It turned out to be a really good day.

So above is the new fabric that I got in the mail from the Fat Quarter Shop.  This is the Bloggers Choice pick for June. Cara Wilson from Cara Quilts is the blogger that put this set together. I think that I am going to save it for when I get pregnant, hoping for a girl.

My grandmother has decided that she is done quilting so she passed to me a good bit of fabric. The pill on the table is only what I am planning to use soon.

Here is what I have started with just today. I am excited about the out come of this one.  This is new territory for me.  I took a peak at the tutorial on Spider Web from Quilt It. I glanced at it and figured, "oh, that's simple enough". A peak meaning I did not follow her instructions. We shall see. I am going to add this tutorial from Quilt it the coming tutorial section of the blog.

That's whats happening with me.

Yesterday

Yesterday was very productive for one of my Mondays and also very tiring.
Yesterdays To List:
Take my mom to work
deposit check at the bank
Take boys to dentist
Pick up sister
Pick up dry cleaning
Laundry
Get work shirts for husband
dinner
school with boys
Hobby Lobby
Blog/quilt/design wall
Check k12 enrollment status

I did not do any sewing but I received some fabric that I was waiting on to start on my Lazarus Fundraiser quilt.  I was excited to see that it had arrived and when I opened it I loved. I do no think that the fabric is right for the cause.  Never the less, It has been paid for specifically for this cause so I am going to go with it and see what happens.

I decided to use the lattice pattern for this quilt and instead of using the aqua, I'll be using a gray for the background color. The aqua makes it look babyish to me.

I found a table cloth that is
vinyl on one side and  soft on the other.  It measured at 54"x 80" something I think that will work for my larger layer of my design wall.  It is great in length, but would still like at least 3 more inches on both side.  In the mean time, it will be simple just to adjust my quilt top for that when needed.
Also I have wanted some clips to hold my rolled quilt while quilting and I found some at Hobby Lobby they were $4.  The ones that Nicole from Mama Love Quilts suggested were cheaper. I just never ordered them for some strange reason. But I am glad to have them now for the next project. I also picked up some threaded bobbins.

Today I am almost finished with the Scrappy Comic Strip Quilt and tomorrow will be starting on the Lazarus Quilt.

I would love to here your opinion on the fabric choice for the Lazarus quilt.

Since The Last Post,

I finished the Picnic Sparkle Quilt for my aunt.
She picked it up and I didn't get to take a  nice bright picture of it, so this pick is by her son. I plan to make another one, but twin size using different fabrics.

I have started back on the Scrappy Comic Strip disaster.
However, I still rather not show it, but I am going to finish it. I am not a quitter.

When I stumbled across design walls from fellow bloggers, I decided to make one for myself. I think it is a must for any quilter for the purpose of designing the layout. You don't have to worry about putting away your fabric and then trying to put it back when you get ready to work on it again. I fell in love with the idea of having a layered design wall for multiple projects from Sew Katie Did

Mine is in the beginning stages.

I spent a lot of time trying to find the lest expensive way to do this. What I found was that a softtop bed under pad will do it and it only cost me $9 from walmart. It is vinyl on the back and soft felt like cotton on the top. Before I make my wall layered, I want a under pad big enough for at least a queen sized project.

So what you see above on my design wall is what I am working on using the reunion Charm pack and navy blue solids.  I am waiting for my fabric for the Lazarus Quilt to arrive to get started on it.

That's all for now.
Tell me what you think.
