This would be the perfect studio for me. I grabbed this photo from Quilt Dad's page. Unfortunatley, this wont be a reality for me until we move into a bigger house with a room specifically for my quilting. I love the fact that it has a couch for relaxing and dreaming of ideas to put together in a quilt. This is the type of studio that I dream of.
My husband pointed out that setting up shop in the garage might not be a good idea with Atlanta's summer heat and my tendency to sweat profusely. So it appears that the i'll be in the dinning room for a long time. :(

Quilting and Faith
Since I've begun my journey as a novice quilter, I'm seeing everything through the lens of quilting. So as I sit and ponder, quilting has started to take on more meaning to me than just a fun hobby or something to create and make memories. Quilting has become a metaphor of sorts for my life. Learning to piece together different fabric patterns, colors, and shapes has enlarged my scoop of vision of how so many different things can work together. Just as there are three vital parts that make up a quilt, the top, batting, and backing.
My life exist because of three very vital Persons, God the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit.
As I live a life of faith in Christ, I'm learning how all the different things that this life throws at me all work together for my good. Just as the top, batting, and backing are needed to make a quilt complete, so does my life need God the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit.
I promise not to turn this blog into a forum on all things religious and spiritual. However, as I learn how to create and piece together quilts, its great to be sure of Who has created and pieced me together.

Not Enough Space
My dining room serves as a base for multiple operations in my house. We eat, have school, talk, iron, and this is were I practice quilting. When its time to quilt there is food all over the table. When its time to eat, quilting stuff is all over the table. When its time for school for the boys, sometimes food and quilting stuff is everywhere. Sometimes I really wanna scream.
I hope that some day I can turn my garage into my own little quilting work shop. There is a lot to be done. My husband keeps telling me its not as simple as setting up my stuff. While standing in it to take this pic, I got the overwhelming revelation of what he means.

Venturing Into Quilting
The one thing that I have always wanted to do was leave some type of legacy and heritage for my children. Quilting is the one thing that I can proudly say that my grandmother is passing down to me. This is not just a hobby for me but an opportunity to learn, create, and possibly build something to be passed down. So journey with me as I learn, make mistakes, and create. There are tons of quilters out there that I would love to school me as I began this journey. Oh! please be patient with me as I get this blog together.
